Unwind with these ASMR Inspired Korean Home Cafe Videos

Here are the clinking ice sounds, outrageous drinks, and soft, slime-like foam in these videos. It's challenging to get through the middle of the week, especially if you've just enjoyed a three-day weekend and your ideas of a relaxing Monday are still vivid in your mind. As the week wears on and Friday looms ever closer, here's something to watch with your sheet mask and glass of wine this evening: the "home cafe" video.

The home cafe is a chill Instagram video genre in which disembodied hands create visually enticing beverages. The beverages are composed of items that sound lovely, like frozen orbs plinking into a glass, bubbly water fizzing into colorful syrup, or a glass straw swirling a mixture of ice and citrus similar to ASMR and foamy videos.

If you search with #homecafe, you'll get hundreds of thousands of videos. But the secret is to search in Korean with #홈카페, which translates to the same thing containing over a million postings, primarily created by Korean Instagrammers.

There are a lot of analogs in home cafe videos. Instagram's favorite over-the-top milkshakes are reminiscent of the home cafe's blinged-out beverages. And the clips are similar to Tasty in that they are brief and to the point. That is to say, home-café caters to a wide range of niches. The sounds of the home cafe are nevertheless pleasing. Listen:

The fact that the beverages don't seem like you have to make them is one of our favorite aspects of the home café video. They don't provide much context; it's unclear why this fizzy lemon drink is a brilliant shade of blue and what it may taste like aside from lemons. Or what the thick, runny liquids are. There are no ingredients, only a variety of pleasing colors, forms, sensations, and noises. Look:

Cooking videos may be daunting because there are so many expectations about what you can prepare and how you might go wrong. Instead, watch the home café video. Feel your cares lift away, even if only for a single Instagram minute, as the milky, colorful concoctions stream into a glass filled with ice and topped with sweets.
